Dr Fatemeh Pishbin has been an assistant professor at the School of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, University of Tehran, since 2019. She earned her B.Sc. in Metallurgy from the same institution. Following this, she pursued advanced studies at Imperial College London, achieving an M.Sc. in composite materials and a Ph.D. in biomedical materials.
Leading an interdisciplinary research group, Dr Pishbin focuses on developing innovative materials for biomedical applications. Her specific interest lies in processing and characterizing multifunctional nanocomposite materials, leveraging their properties to induce advantageous responses at biological interfaces. With extensive experience in studying multifunctional biomaterials, her research encompasses bioprinting of tissue engineering scaffolds, theranostic nanoparticles, and biomedical coatings. The outcomes of these studies, published in prestigious scientific journals, find diverse applications in regenerative medicine, cancer nano medicine, orthopaedic implants, and antimicrobial surfaces.
Dr Pishbin has received several awards from the Imperial College London, Institute of Physics UK, the Armoures and Brasiers Company (UK), and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3).
